Your data, your business.
This is the plain-language version, because you should not need a law degree to understand what happens with your information. The short answer: we collect very little, we keep it safe, and we never sell it.
What we collect
When you sign up, we collect what you give us: your first name, last name, and email address, plus a secure password stored through our authentication provider (we never see it in plain text). Once you are using ELI, we store your conversations so your history is there when you come back, along with the preferences you set so ELI can talk to you the way you like. We may keep a record of any support messages you send us so we can actually help you.
What we do with it
- Hold your place. Your name and email let us save your founding member spot and reach out when ELI is ready.
- Personalize your experience. We use your name to greet you and to make ELI feel like it was built for you, because it was.
- Support you. If you write to us, we use your email to reply. A real person reads it.
The AI behind ELI
ELI is powered by a few trusted services, and we name them so you know exactly where your words go. When you send a message, it is sent to Anthropic (the makers of Claude) to generate ELI's reply; their API terms mean your messages are not used to train their models. When ELI looks something up on the web, your search query is sent to Tavily to fetch results. Your account and your conversations are stored with Supabase (our database and login provider), and the app is hosted on Vercel. ELI runs on its own paid access to these tools, never on your personal accounts. You agree to this in the app before your first message, and as we add other providers we will choose terms that protect your privacy and update this page.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and your conversations until you ask us to remove them. You can delete your data at any time (see "Your choices" below), and when you do, we delete it.
What we will never do
We do not sell your data. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. ELI is built by real people for a real community, and that trust is the whole point. There is no business model here that depends on giving your information away.
Honest by design
ELI is built to tell you the truth, including the truth about itself. When the product is live, ELI will tell you when it is not sure rather than making something up. We will be just as honest about how it works and what it does with your information.
A human in the loop
ELI is never a faceless system. There is always a real person behind it, right now that person is Josiah. That means decisions about your data are made by someone you can actually reach, not buried in an automated machine.
Early access
ELI is in early access and still being built. As the product grows, this page will grow with it, and we will keep it in plain language. If anything material changes about how we handle your data, we will tell you directly.
Your choices
You are always in control. You can update your details, or permanently delete your entire account, including every conversation and anything ELI remembered, right inside the app: open your account page and use "Delete my account." It is immediate and cannot be undone. You can also email us anytime and a real person will help.
